Toolmaker - Fabrication Specialist

Mexx Engineering is seeking a skilled Toolmaker to join our team in a fabrication specialist role. As a Toolmaker, you will be responsible for the manufacturing and maintenance of tools and equipment, ensuring high-quality production and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities- Manufacture and maintain tools and equipment, adhering to engineering specifications and tolerances.
- Operate machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders, to fabricate tooling and parts.
- Study blueprints, drawings, and engineering information to determine methods and sequences of operations.
- Perform regular checks on equipment and maintain them in good condition.
- Measure and mark out metal stock and castings using various gauges.
- Shape metal and wood stock using machine tools.
- Check the accuracy of manufactured articles and finished patterns to fine tolerances, using precision measuring instruments.
- Test and modify manufactured articles.
- Apply protective finishes to patterns and paint pattern sections to indicate method of assembly.
- Assemble pattern sections and shape work pieces to specified finish.
- Pour and spread materials into moulds and over models of patterns, and build laminations of fibreglass cloth and plastic resin to fabricate patterns.
- Repair broken and damaged patterns and correct patterns to compensate for defects in casting.
- Construct templates for layout and inspection.
- AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV.
- Minimum of 1-year experience in automation or manufacturing industry preferred but not essential.
- Strong experience in workshop machine operations (Manual or CNC).
- Previous experience with welding and cutting machine operation is highly beneficial.
- A current Australian Driver's License.
- Forklift or EWP licence.
- Confined Space ticket advantageous.
- First Aid Certificate.
