Role Overview:

  • Responsible for fitting, assembling, grinding, and shaping metal components and sub-assemblies to construct production machinery and various equipment.

Required Qualifications:

  • AQF Certificate III with a minimum of two years of practical training, or AQF Certificate IV.

Experience Requirements:

  • At least one year of experience in the automation or manufacturing sector is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong background in operating workshop machinery (Manual or CNC).
  • Previous experience with welding and cutting machinery is highly advantageous.

Essential Skills and Competencies:

Machine Assembly, Testing, Commissioning, and Installation:

  • Interpreting technical drawings and specifications to identify appropriate materials, methods, and sequences of operations, as well as machine settings.
  • Fitting fabricated metal components into products and assembling metal parts and subassemblies to create machinery and equipment.
  • Verifying the accuracy, clearance, and fit of fabricated and assembled metal components using precision measuring tools.
  • Setting up guides, stops, and other controls on machining tools, and configuring cutting and shaping tools and dies in machines and presses.
  • Shaping metal stock and castings to precise tolerances using machining tools to press, cut, grind, plane, bore, and drill metal.
  • Cutting, threading, bending, and installing hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and lines.
  • Preparing pattern mechanisms to regulate the operation of textile machines used for spinning, weaving, knitting, sewing, and tufting fabric.
  • Diagnosing faults and conducting operational maintenance of machines, as well as overhauling and repairing mechanical components and fluid power equipment.
  • May involve erecting machines and equipment on-site.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Current Australian Driver's License.
  • Forklift or EWP license.
