We are seeking a skilled Water Quality Specialist to join our aquaculture team at our state-of-the-art prawn farm in Proserpine.

This permanent, full-time role is crucial in supporting our hatchery and water quality operations to ensure optimal animal health and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily water quality sampling, testing, and analysis for hatchery and pond management.
  • Manage microalgae growth and conduct observations using intensive microscope techniques.
  • Perform larvae feeding, assessments, and broodstock breeding performance monitoring.
  • Prepare detailed reports on water quality metrics and hatchery activities.
  • Work collaboratively as a team to execute the daily production plan safely and efficiently.
  • Uphold the highest standards of biosecurity and a Zero Harm safety culture.

Requirements:

  • A fast learner with self-motivation, reliability, and a strong passion for hands-on work.
  • Demonstrated mathematical aptitude and strong observational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • An adaptable and resilient attitude suited to a fast-paced working environment.
  • Prior experience in prawn farming is advantageous.
  • Must have a current driver's licence, own reliable transport, and full Australian working rights.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment medical assessment.
  • Preferred, but not essential: Experience in water quality, farming, or a technical field; knowledge of algal identification; or qualifications in Marine Biology or Aquaculture.
