WSP is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer/Engineering Geologist to join our renowned Geotechnical & Tunnels team, based in Newcastle office. With over 150 years of experience, our industry-leading team shares a common passion for technical excellence and innovation.

We have two exciting roles available: Senior Geotechnical Engineer/Engineering Geologist and Associate Geotechnical Engineer/Engineering Geologist. As a key member of our team, you will collaborate with talented professionals on iconic projects, driving future-ready outcomes that benefit clients and communities.

About the Role:

  • You will work alongside other technical experts on bidding and delivering successful projects.
  • Undertake and manage geotechnical investigation and design projects from proposal preparation to fieldwork, analysis, and reporting.
  • Support the delivery of dam surveillance, safety inspections, risk assessments, and development of safety management systems.
  • Contribute to geotechnical projects in the energy transition, mining industry, and transport sector.
  • Drive business development through successful project delivery.
  • Promote a safe working culture by identifying and eliminating safety hazards.

Your Expertise:

  • A Civil/Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology degree (Post-graduate qualifications in a geotechnical related field considered favourably).
  • Experience in geotechnical engineering/engineering geology (local experience preferred).
  • Passion for tailings storage facility and water dam management.
  • A successful track record in undertaking and managing field investigations for small to large size geotechnical projects.
  • Track record of promoting innovation in the field of geotechnical engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation/review of written technical reports and client communications.
  • Demonstrated experience in geotechnical design including rock/soil/structure interaction.
  • A strong work ethic and ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
  • Ability to take responsibility for geotechnical design delivery in a multidisciplinary environment.
