The Role
This Theatre Head Technical Operator role involves working closely with the Theatre Technical Manager to coordinate lighting resources, collaborate with the BOH lighting team, and ensure technical requirements are met for shows and rosters.
You will serve as a senior point of contact for the Theatre lighting team, managing staff recruitment, records, training, assets, and documentation.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Delivering high-quality services while maintaining compliance with legal requirements and risk management standards.
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
- Providing administrative support, including rostering and register maintenance.
Requirements
To excel in this role, you'll need:
- A minimum 5 years of senior technical lighting experience in theatre stage productions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience in administrative functions, including rostering, register creation and maintenance.
- Proficiency in Excel and other computer software.
- Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, and implement effective strategies.
- Demonstrated staff supervision skills, including recruitment, induction, performance management, and employee development.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety, Equal Opportunity, and Ethical practices.
- Organizational skills, including time management, task prioritization, and resource scheduling.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Capacity to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Additional Information
Preferred qualifications include a Working at Heights certificate, White Card, EWP License, Forklift license, Rigging qualifications, and experience using CAD and/or Vectorworks. A tertiary qualification in a specialized field, such as Lighting or Technical Theatre, would also be advantageous.
