The Automation & Innovation Hub seeks a technically skilled and business-savvy data engineer to power the University's most advanced data solutions and AI projects. From designing robust reporting frameworks to fuelling machine learning workflows, this is your chance to make an impact.

As a data engineer, you'll play a central role in designing, developing, and delivering end-to-end data solutions that underpin strategic and operational decisions across the University. You will build and maintain scalable data pipelines, dashboards, and analytics environments using tools like SQL, Python, and Azure Data Factory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver data-driven insights for executive decision-makers, frontline staff, and AI-enabled automation tools
  • Collaborate with data scientists and AI engineers to prepare high-quality datasets for machine learning models
  • Guide junior data team members and foster best practices in data engineering and reporting
  • Work in a fast-paced agile team environment, turning complex technical challenges into clean, impactful data solutions

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Business, Statistics, or a related field
  • Understand data pipelines from end to end—ingestion, transformation, and visualisation
  • Experience with SQL and Python
  • Balance technical expertise with stakeholder engagement—running workshops, gathering requirements, and translating needs into data solutions
