Job Title: Youth Justice Casework Specialist

About the Role

The role of the casework specialist is to provide quality professional services to young people subject to a youth justice intervention. This includes delivering best practice statutory casework services, preparing and presenting information and evidence to the Children's Court, and engaging with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with human rights principles and supports departmental programs aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Deliver integrated and culturally appropriate services using high level assessment and intervention skills to deliver intensive weekly engagement with families, community organisations and other key stakeholders in accordance with legislative, policy and procedural requirements.
  • Prepare and present information and evidence to the Children's Court, including conducting pre and post court interviews, liaising with key court stakeholders and preparing reports as required.
  • Engage with and establish partnerships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders and service providers to achieve quality casework outcomes.
  • Provide effective coordination of the therapeutic alliance and formulate a singular case plan with consistent action orientated goals to support the young person and their family members.
