Risk Management and Compliance Specialist

We're seeking a seasoned professional to join our team as a Risk Management and Compliance Specialist. As a key member of our risk management framework, you'll play a pivotal role in maintaining and improving our organisational risk posture.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement risk management strategies that align with business objectives, ensuring effective identification, analysis, evaluation, and treatment of risk exposure.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to assess business decisions, review and update risk registers, and engage with relevant teams to support assessment and mitigation of risks.
  • Support the development and maintenance of compliance management frameworks, policies, procedures, and risk management information systems.
  • Conduct periodic testing of controls to assess effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Assist with incident response and breach management, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Review operational business processes to identify potential process risks or inefficiencies and suggest suitable process improvements.
  • Support internal audit reviews and closure of findings.
  • Provide training and education on risk management best practices and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with the risk management team to ensure consistency and alignment across all compliance matters.
  • Prepare and present reports to senior leadership, including board audit and risk committees.

Requirements:

  • A tertiary qualification in a business-related discipline.
  • A minimum of 2+ years' experience in a risk and/or compliance-related role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Australian and New Zealand Risk Management Standard (AS/NZS 31000:2018).
  • Good working knowledge of compliance management standards, guidelines, practices, techniques, and tools.
  • The ability to analyse and document business processes, workflows, and controls.
  • Risk assessment, mitigation, investigation, and remediation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to document policies and procedures.
  • Experience within financial or professional services industries.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and continuously improving risk and compliance management frameworks.

Desirable experience and attributes:

  • Internal audit and/or process improvement skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable private health insurance compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in using Enterprise Risk Management systems.
