SIMEC Mining, part of GFG Alliance, is committed to leading the decarbonisation of the steel industry. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in this ambitious project.

You will provide technical support and governance to a portfolio of major growth studies and projects, ensuring the delivery of consistent technical outcomes. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing electrical discipline technical standards and standard specifications for project applications
  • Contribute to the development of project delivery systems to support technical delivery of projects and application of standards
  • Auditing design work presented by vendors to ensure compliance with specified scopes
  • Assessing design compliance with Australian Standards and SIMEC Mining's engineering and quality standards
  • Providing technical reviews of bids for engineering and construction services and equipment
  • Encouraging a collaborative and high-performing work culture of continuous improvement
  • Identifying and implementing new innovative technologies

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or similar
  • Minimum plus years of experience in mining, minerals processing, and metals industries
  • Engineers Australia Chartered Professional Engineer
  • Demonstrated knowledge of instrumentation and control systems applied to minerals and metals processes
  • Strong problem-solving and analysis skills
  • Strong communications skills with the ability to work with stakeholders
  • Sound knowledge of Australian standards and statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines and changing priorities
