We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Purchasing Officer to join our team in Somersby on the Central Coast. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing materials, placing orders for various departments across our business.
The role involves working across multiple entities within the group and requires several key skills and qualifications:
- Supplier Identification: Identifying, evaluating, and managing suppliers in China to ensure quality, cost-efficiency, and reliability.
- Negotiating pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers.
- Policy Compliance: Ensuring compliance with company procurement policies and international trade regulations.
- Supplier Partnerships: Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers to support long-term collaboration.
- Purchase Order Management: Handling purchase orders, delivery schedules, and monitoring supplier performance.
- Communicating closely with internal teams (logistics, quality control, finance) to ensure smooth order fulfillment.
- Language Support: Translating key procurement documents and communications from Mandarin to English.
- Market Insights: Staying updated on market trends, pricing fluctuations, and supplier capabilities.
Key Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Excellent communication skills in Mandarin Chinese and English.
- Procurement Background: Proven experience (at least 3 years) in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management—preferably with Chinese suppliers.
- Negotiation Strengths: Strong negotiation skills and ability to analyze cost structures.
- Trade Knowledge: Familiarity with import/export processes, customs requirements, and Incoterms.
- Project Management: Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects at once.
- System Proficiency: Proficiency in procurement software, Excel, and ERP systems.
- Culture Understanding: Strong cultural awareness and understanding of Chinese business etiquette.
- Team Collaboration: Experience working in a cross-border team.
- International Travel: Ability to travel to China for supplier visits (if needed).
