Grounds Maintenance Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Grounds Maintenance Assistant to maintain the cleanliness and safety of our properties. This includes:

  • Maintaining a clean and safe work environment for clients and employees
  • Repairing and maintaining equipment
  • Mowing and edging lawns
  • General maintenance of gardens, including pruning and trimming of trees and shrubs
  • Rubbish removal

This role requires strong maintenance skills, experience with commercial ride-on mowers and other power garden equipment, and a high level of physical health and fitness.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for completing daily safety checks of all equipment and vehicles, monitoring and addressing issues promptly, and motivating and promoting increased productivity.

Responsibilities

  1. Complete daily safety checks of all equipment and vehicles
  2. Monitor, address and report all identified issues in a timely manner
  3. Motivate and promote increased productivity
  4. Quality control of site grounds
  5. Support and train youth in relation to maintaining a job in the grounds maintenance industry

Work Health & Safety

We prioritise the health and safety of our staff and clients. The successful candidate will ensure all documentation is completed and up-to-date, adhere to WHS policies and procedures, and identify and rectify WHS issues promptly.

Requirements

  • 12 months experience in a relevant trade
  • Current Manual Driver's License
  • Broad range of maintenance skills
  • Experience with commercial ride-on mowers and other power garden equipment
  • High level of physical health and fitness
  • Strong team working skills
  • Sound knowledge of WHS policies and principles
