Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise biosecurity activities within a post entry quarantine facility.
  • Supervise and provide horticultural and nursery management skills to propagate and maintain valuable plant material.
  • Assist in activities that support the team's operational requirements, including analysis of documentation, resource management, and preparation of documentation.
  • Forward plan horticulture activities, including nursery production planning for upcoming peak seasons.
  • Provide advice on complex biosecurity matters to employees, stakeholders/clients, and senior managers.
  • Resolve complex operational and technical matters.
  • Liaise with clients and other government agencies, providing advice as necessary.
  • Provide on-the-job training and support to other employees on biosecurity issues.
  • Build and sustain supportive relationships with staff and stakeholders.
  • Actively participate in and contribute to the department's corporate objectives.
  • Model and monitor compliance with appropriate standards of behaviour, including the APS Code of Conduct and Values.
  • Promote and comply with departmental Work Health and Safety policies and guidelines.
