Job Overview

:

In this role, you will play a key part in leading the design, development, and evaluation of mechanical components and processes for various projects. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the unique and complex requirements of each project's mechanical aspects are met.

As a Mechanical Engineering Specialist, you will be responsible for conducting field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project's mechanical aspects. You will also lead teams in evaluating, selecting, and applying standard mechanical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria for small to large-size projects.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical problem-solving capabilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field and 10-17 years of relevant experience are required.

Salary Information

: The estimated annual salary for this position is $120,000-$180,000, depending on qualifications and location. Bechtel offers a market-aligned salary package and an annual discretionary performance bonus scheme.

Responsibilities

:
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard mechanical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria for small to large-size projects.
  • Design, develop, modify, and evaluate mechanical components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards, and guides.
  • Prepare or assist in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals.
  • Coordinate mechanical engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction, and other functional groups.
  • Provide guidance to other mechanical engineering personnel for specific tasks or projects when delegated.

Requirements and Qualifications

:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • 10-17 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of systems, calculations, equipment, applications of methods, materials, and computers in the discipline.
  • Computer skills including competence in MS Office suite and other common software.
  • Flexibility and enthusiasm for individual and team tasks.
  • Demonstrated skills in oral and written communication.
