
Community Engagement Specialist

Role Overview:
This role involves developing and monitoring a program of community development and service enhancement activities for carers throughout the region. The aim is to support unpaid carers in their caring role, and these activities are designed in collaboration with carers and other regional stakeholders, based on service gap analysis and consultation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and monitor a program of community development and service enhancement activities for carers.
- Work collaboratively with carers and other regional stakeholders to design and implement programs.
- Conduct service gap analysis and develop strategies to address identified gaps.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including carers, community groups, and healthcare providers.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and qualifications:
- Tertiary qualifications in Community Development, Public Health or equivalent.
- Excellent communication, negotiating, problem solving and interpersonal skills, including experience in group facilitation.
- A sound understanding of and ability to work with the issues affecting carers.
- A sound understanding of the regional health and community service system and the impact of reform.
- Demonstrated understanding of service enhancement principles and demonstrated capacity to guide implementation of community development activities that enhance respite opportunities for carers.
- Demonstrated skills in project development and co-design principles to optimise responses to service gaps.
- Experience and confidence with information technology.
- Ability to work unsupervised and to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines and schedules as required.
- Demonstrated organisational skills, including time management and willingness to work to agreed processes.
