Job Title: Senior Legal Officer, Department of Housing and Local Government

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Officer to join our team in the Department of Housing and Local Government. As a Senior Legal Officer, you will play a key role in providing high-quality legal advice and support to the department.

About the Role

The Senior Legal Officer will be responsible for:

  • Providing strategic and independent legal advice to the department on commercial law, property law, and administrative law matters.
  • Drafting and reviewing legal documents, including leases, licenses, easements, and contracts.
  • Maintaining a high level of knowledge of contemporary issues and legal risks impacting on property law and related government policies and initiatives.
  • Providing state-focused, quality independent advice on dispute resolution and litigation.
  • Reviewing the work of more junior legal officers.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Been admitted or be eligible for immediate admission as a legal practitioner by the Supreme Court of Queensland.
  • High-level knowledge and experience in contemporary property and commercial law.
  • High-level communication and relationship management skills.
  • Liaising and negotiating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
