Whitehaven Coal is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Drill and Blast Specialist to join our team at Tarrawonga Mine. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for coordinating drill and blast activities to ensure safe and efficient mining practices.

About the Role

As a Drill and Blast Specialist, you will work closely with our Drill and Blast Superintendent to oversee the coordination of drill and blast activities. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Liaising with the Drill and Blast Superintendent to organize pre-blasting clean up and preparations
• Overseeing drilling, loading, and firing of shots
• Maintaining the drill and blast component of the schedule and communicating sequence and requirements to Operations and Tech Services
• Liaising with explosive and drilling suppliers to maintain adequate stock levels
• Developing and maintaining plans, designs, and blast packs for all shots

What You'll Bring

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Experience in the provision of drilling and blasting activities within an Open Cut mining environment
• Knowledge of risk management, safe work practices, and statutory requirements to create and maintain a safe work environment
• Demonstrated safe and productive management of mine plant and facilities
