**Responsibilities and Qualifications**

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a skilled MRI Technologist to perform Magnetic Resonance Imaging procedures and provide patient care in accordance with industry standards and department protocols.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform MRI procedures according to established protocols and ensures high-quality images are produced.
  • Evaluate patient conditions and determine the appropriate procedure protocol and method of application.
  • Care for patients throughout the procedure, adhering to department and hospital standards of patient care.
  • Participate in lifting and transporting patients to and from imaging devices, ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Evaluate resultant images and take corrective action if necessary, referring to relevant reference materials for clarification when needed.
  • Provide patient education prior to, during, and subsequent to the procedure to reduce anxiety and enhance comfort.
  • Ensure imaging procedures are performed in accordance with safe practice guidelines for MRI and maintain flexibility to accommodate daily schedules and productivity demands.
  • Collaborate with Resource Coordinators and Technical Coordinator to learn new procedures and software, staying up-to-date with the latest technologies.
  • Document imaging procedures manually and electronically to ensure correct charging, patient tracking, and film file management.
  • Send acquired images to PACS systems correctly, using appropriate accession numbers for future retrieval by medical staff.
  • Maintain stock of supplies in imaging rooms, ensuring timely reordering and rotation of dated items, as well as maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
  • Report equipment failures, irregularities, or disrepair to supervisory and technical coordinators promptly.
  • Distribute Radiology outpatient surveys to patients for self-evaluation purposes and enhance the Best Patient Experience through quality services and productivity.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program or accredited MRI program – Diploma/Certificate of completion.
  • ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT certification or certification eligible. Must receive certification within 1 year of start date.
  • CPR Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Excellent interpersonal verbal communication skills.
