We're seeking a seasoned Solicitor to join our Health Law team in Melbourne. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical negligence and professional conduct litigation, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

About the Role

This is a 12-month fixed-term position to provide parental leave cover, working three days a week. You'll deliver high-quality legal advice and services on medical defence matters to claims managers and members. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing general medico-legal advice to members and Claims Managers
  • Representing medical practitioners before various courts and tribunals
  • Mentoring and supporting junior colleagues

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Relevant tertiary legal qualifications
  • Eligibility to hold an unsupervised practising certificate as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Western Australia and the High Court of Australia
  • Demonstrated post-admission experience in private practice (ideally 2-4 years) in medical negligence and professional conduct related litigation
