We are seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Stud Hand at Seymour Park.

About the Role

The successful applicant will be responsible for the daily care of horses, including feed runs, mucking out, treatments, and grooming. This role involves working in the broodmare and spelling departments, administering treatments, monitoring horse health, assisting with foal handling and weaning, and collaborating with veterinarians, farriers, and other contractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily care and maintenance of horses, including feeding, mucking out, and grooming.
  • Work across multiple departments, including broodmares and spellers, as required.
  • Administration of treatments, injections, and medication to sick or injured horses.
  • Maintaining accurate records of horse health and any issues that may arise.
  • Assisting with foal handling and weaning processes.
  • Collaborating with veterinarians, farriers, and other contractors as needed.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with horses, including broodmares, spellers, and young stock.
  • Knowledge of equine husbandry and a willingness to learn and develop skills further.
  • A full driver's license is essential for this role.

Working Conditions

This is a varied role that requires flexibility and adaptability. The successful applicant will work outside of normal hours, including weekends and occasional additional hours, but we offer an attractive roster that includes working only 2 in every 5 weekends.
