Senior Mental Health Clinician

This is a key leadership role in our multidisciplinary team, overseeing the care and support of clients transitioning from Thomas Embling Hospital to the community. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments, developing treatment plans, and providing ongoing support to clients with complex mental health needs.

About the Role

The Senior Mental Health Clinician will work closely with other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality, patient-centered care. This includes:

  • Conducting thorough risk assessments and developing crisis plans to ensure the safety and well-being of clients
  • Collaborating with legal teams to prepare clients for court proceedings and engaging in relevant legal processes
  • Providing education and support to carers regarding ongoing treatment and care
  • Participating in quality improvement activities to enhance service delivery and outcomes

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience in mental health, preferably recent community mental health experience or extensive clinical mental health experience
  • Approved degree in Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Psychiatric Nursing, or Psychology, registered with APHRA, or other qualifications approved for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers
  • Demonstrated commitment to mental health consumer recovery, with an understanding of recovery principles and their application
