We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Consultant to join our team at Farm Credit Services. As a Tax Consultant, you will be responsible for providing tax planning and preparation services to our clients, as well as managing the delivery of tax and accounting products and services.
Key Responsibilities- Tax Planning and Preparation: Perform tax projections and work with clients to develop strategic tax plans in accordance with Farm Credit policies and procedures and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) code requirements.
- Consulting Services: Provide tax and accounting consulting services on a wide range of issues affecting clients.
- Tax Return Preparation: Prepare and sign income tax returns for individual, partnership and corporate clients.
- Client Relationship Management: Establish and maintain strong client relationships.
- Accounting and Financial Services: Maintain trial balance, general ledger and fixed asset schedules for internal and non-accounting clients.
- Technical Expertise: Provide technical accounting expertise to team members when questions arise.
- Mentorship and Training: Mentor and provide training and feedback to tax and accounting team members on tax law, tax software and accounting principles according to established best practices.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in tax planning and preparation.
- Certifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Enrolled Agent (EA) certification required.
- Skills: Strong listening, written and verbal communication skills, with ability to communicate at all levels of the organization. Exercises a high level of ethical and professional judgement. Skill in developing and maintaining interpersonal relationships. High level of integrity. Strong problem solving, decision making and organizational skills. Strong computer skills, including MS Office applications and tax and accounting software. Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
