The Monash University School of Media, Film and Journalism seeks a visionary leader to serve as the Head of School and Professor. As the head of this vibrant school, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and inspiring staff with a strong vision for education, engagement, and research.
The successful candidate will have a doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline and a track record of achievement in any area represented in the school. You will possess highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to liaise well with others and encourage a culture of attracting external funding through national competitive grants, philanthropy, other research income, and industry partnerships.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a world-class university and contribute to shaping the media landscape through research centres such as the Monash Climate Change Communication Research Hub and the Constructive Institute Asia Pacific. You will have the chance to impact national policy, enhance curriculum, and set up the next generation of students.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide strategic leadership to the School of Media, Film and Journalism.
- Drive strategic change for the disciplines of the school, including ongoing development and modernisation of the curriculum.
- Progress work on decolonising research and teaching, fostering stronger industry engagement, and boosting recruitment in undergraduate and masters-level programs.
- Doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline.
- Track record of achievement in any area represented in the school.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to liaise well with others and encourage a culture of attracting external funding.
