The Role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our team at our Laverton North Depot. The successful candidate will have a strong background in rail industry experience and qualifications, with a focus on diagnosing, fault finding, and repairing equipment in a timely and effective manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the workshop team to carry out activities, including applying technical skills, maintaining equipment, and performing repairs.
  • Hire equipment, maintain and repair machinery, plant, and vehicles, as required.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and scheduling of equipment, adhering to internal processes and procedures.
  • Will travel to support remote projects, as required.
  • Test and inspect equipment, machinery, plant, and vehicles, to ensure safety and quality standards are met.
  • Obtain consumables and parts from the store manager and complete relevant paperwork.
  • Ensure environmental compliance, including cleaning and waste management.

About You

To be considered for this role, you will need to hold a minimum of:

  • Previous rail-track experience.
  • A Mechanical Trade Certificate (or equivalent).
  • An Australian Driver's Licence - Manual C Class (minimum).
  • An Australian Construction Induction Card (Blue/White Card).
  • A current Fire Extinguisher Test and Tag Certificate (ideal, but not essential).
  • A current Test and Tag Certificate (ideal, but not essential).
  • A Rail Industry Worker (RIW) Card (ideal, but not essential).
  • The ability to complete and pass a pre-employment medical.
