Commercial Lines Underwriter Opportunity

This is a challenging and dynamic position for a career-driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys building strong industry relationships.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Grow business by writing new business, managing renewal portfolios, and expanding product offerings to brokers across Canada.
  • Evaluate risks and make sound underwriting decisions based on company guidelines, risk appetite, and pricing strategies.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and insurers, providing exceptional service and value-added solutions.
  • Manage the submission, quoting, and binding process for new and renewal business with accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness.
  • Collaborate with other underwriters, brokers, and internal teams to drive profitable growth and meet assigned monthly sales goals.
  • Negotiate policy terms and conditions with brokers and insurers, ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of P&C underwriting experience, with a focus on commercial lines.
  • Experience with an MGA or a broker with in-house underwriting authority is strongly preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of insurance products and services, with a proven ability to apply this knowledge in a creative and innovative way.
  • Demonstrated a track record of achieving underwriting profitability and growth targets.
  • Proficient in data analysis and Excel; experience with data visualization tools is an asset.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills with the ability to turn insights into action.
