Crane Technician Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for servicing cranes to Australian and industry standards, ensuring safety and delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Install, test, and adjust electric and mechanical parts of cranes, hoists, and lifting equipment.
  2. Perform routine maintenance on overhead cranes, hoists, and lifting equipment.
  3. Identify sequences and operations by studying electrical blueprints and circuitry of cranes, hoists, and lifting equipment.
  4. Measure and plan for installations.
  5. Select, cut, and connect wiring or cabling as required.
  6. Repair overhead cranes, hoists, and lifting equipment by identifying and diagnosing faults using appropriate instrumentation.
  7. Identify, repair, and/or replace malfunctioning parts or faulty wiring.
  8. Install electrical switchboards.
  9. Connect electrical systems to power supply.
  10. Test circuit continuity.
  11. Complete electronic service reports.
  12. Travel to other sites.

Requirements:

  • C class driver's license.
  • Electrical license (unrestricted preferred).
  • Valid working at heights qualification.
  • High Risk EWP license.
  • Able to travel/work away for periods.
  • Motivation to learn and succeed.
  • Strong team player.
  • Basic dogging qualification.
  • Basic rigging qualification.
  • Understanding of Australian Standards such as AS1418, AS2550.
  • Experience working on heavy machinery.
  • Mine site experience.
