
Senior Energy Market Development Specialist

This role is designed to support the development of the energy market by coordinating registration processes, monitoring obligations and leading procurement activities.
You will be responsible for administering and managing changes to processes, systems and documentation as a result of regulatory changes or business improvement activities. This includes providing business support for market system changes and ensuring appropriate communications of the changes to stakeholders.
About The RoleThe team responsible for this role ensures secure and reliable energy delivery to the Western Energy Market (WEM) by overseeing the registration and connection of new facilities to the South West Interconnected System (SWIS). The team also manages Year 3 & 4 of the Reserve Capacity Cycle and leads the procurement of new energy and other market services outside of the annual Certified Reserve Capacity process.
In this role, you will work with market participants, western power and internal teams to register new market participants, register new facilities, support network connections activities, assess facilities' reserve capacity tests and other year 3 & 4 obligations under the reserve capacity mechanism.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate registration processes and monitor obligations of year 3 & 4 for the reserve capacity mechanism.
- Support and manage changes to processes, systems and documentation as a result of regulatory changes or business improvement activities.
- Conduct data analysis and develop high-quality written documents or presentations to communicate findings or actions to various audiences.
- Communicate and influence technical or regulatory issues by clearly, concisely and effectively communicating with key internal and external stakeholders to help build effective stakeholder relationships.
Relevant qualifications include a degree in economics, computing, commerce, engineering, science or a related discipline. Industry experience in the electricity sector along with an understanding of the energy system rules, relevant regulations and policies are also required.
Experience operating in an environment with technical documents and/or legal instruments such as rules and regulations is essential. Strong presentation, networking, communication and negotiation skills are also necessary along with demonstrated ability to influence outcomes and strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
