About the Role

Cerebral Palsy Alliance is seeking a highly motivated and culturally sensitive Disability Support Practitioner to join our team. As a Disability Support Practitioner - Cultural Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients to maintain a distinctive cultural, spiritual, and physical relationship with their land and waters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and support cultural journeys for Aboriginal clients through community activities to ensure high levels of social and emotional wellbeing.
  • Deliver personalized support in a group home setting, assisting clients with daily living tasks, personal care, and medication administration.
  • Identify culturally safe activities in the group home, such as musical therapy, storytime, and art.
  • Ensure clients have access to information to make informed choices and build skills for independence.
  • Transport clients using CPA's minivan, if applicable.
Requirements
  • Knowledge and genuine commitment to helping clients maintain a distinctive cultural, spiritual, and physical relationship with their land and waters.
  • Awareness of Closing the Gap Targets and Outcomes is beneficial but not essential.
  • Ability to navigate complex and diverse client family dynamics.
  • A current NSW Driver's Licence (P2 minimum) is preferred.
  • Live locally to Awabakal land.
  • Knowledge, understanding, and sensitivity towards the social and cultural needs of Aboriginal people and their families.
