As a humanitarian crisis unfolds, there is an urgent need for compassionate and skilled professionals to support individuals, families, and groups affected by the crisis.

We are seeking a Counselor to join our team in providing guidance and support to those in need. Working under the supervision of a Psychologist, you will offer advice on personal or psychological problems, and work with individuals, groups, and communities to improve wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support Coordination: Collaborate with the Info Hub team to develop coordinated protection services for Syrian refugees, ensuring efficiency and measurability.
  • Client Support: Meet with Syrian refugees at the Info Hub to provide essential guidance and orientation, empowering them to access their rights as stipulated by domestic and international laws.
  • Needs Assessment: Work with the Psychologist to identify psychosocial needs of beneficiaries and refer them to relevant services if necessary.
  • Monthly Meetings: Conduct regular meetings with the Protection Team to assess needs and ensure effective service delivery.
  • Counseling Sessions: Conduct group sessions for mental health counseling and awareness sessions on psychosocial health, under the supervision of the Psychologist.
  • Case Management: Assist the Psychologist in providing counseling and 1-1 case management, including Psychological First Aid.
  • Follow-up: Follow up with beneficiaries through home visits, defaulter tracing, and other means to ensure continuity of support.
  • Information Provision: Provide information to the target population on mental health and psychosocial issues to help them cope with possible mental health difficulties.
  • Service Mapping: Conduct mapping of services on mental health and psychosocial support provided by public and private aid actors in the region.
  • Reporting: Submit regular reports of work to the Psychologist.
  • Training: Attend and supervise training sessions for volunteers.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology or related field.
  • Educational background in social work, understanding common mental disorders, medical ethics, and psychosocial approaches.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a clinical psychologist or counselor.
  • Working experience in NGOs, particularly in social and/or mental health services.
  • Experience and skills working with people affected by violence.
  • Able to work at individual care and community support levels.
  • Good understanding of the target population and goals of the program.
  • Proficient level in English, Turkish, and/or Arabic is an asset.
