Overview of the Role

The Rates Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and managing the Rates Section efficiently.

This role involves handling rate issuance, rating models, and end-of-month/year processing, overseeing debt recovery and legal actions, managing the Emergency Service Levy and property database integrity, handling land parcels and street numbering, leading, supporting, and conducting performance reviews for the team, reconciling financial records, responding to inquiries, and assisting with ERP system implementation.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the Rates department of a local government, in-depth knowledge of local government rating procedures, regulations, and Acts interpretation, experience in accounting, budgeting, rating systems, and conveyancing, expertise in debt recovery and legal procedures, strong written and verbal communication skills, mentorship, management skills, and team coordination abilities.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate and manage the Rates Section efficiently
  2. Handle rate issuance, rating models, and end-of-month/year processing
  3. Oversee debt recovery and legal actions
  4. Manage the Emergency Service Levy and property database integrity
  5. Handle land parcels and street numbering
  6. Lead, support, and conduct performance reviews for the team

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience in the Rates department of a local government
  • In-depth knowledge of local government rating procedures, regulations, and Acts interpretation

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
