
Housing/Shelter Leadership Position

The Team Lead provides leadership and support to both staff and residents, modeling important work habits and setting the tone for each shift. This role ensures the safety and wellbeing of staff and residents when the supervisor is not available.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Team Lead is responsible for fostering a collaborative working team, practicing effective communication, and encouraging growth. They handle incidents in a supportive manner, de-escalate appropriately, and ensure that appropriate actions are taken. The Team Lead also debriefs with the team and residents as needed.
Resident Program Needs:
- Assist with resident support plan development and delivery of services, promoting independence and self-sufficiency.
- Perform wellness checks to ensure the physical and mental health of residents.
- Assist with daily living tasks such as cleaning rooms and doing laundry, maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Assist with applications and referrals, connecting residents with community resources.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date resident files, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with regulations.
- Support residents in developing independent life skills, empowering them to achieve their goals.
- Respond to medical emergencies, including overdoses, providing immediate care and support.
- Liaise with partner agencies and other professionals/support teams, building strong relationships and partnerships.
Organization Site Needs:
- Provide authentic and engaging leadership and support for the team and residents, fostering a positive and inclusive culture.
- Delegate and oversee daily tasks, prioritizing efficiency and effectiveness.
- Report maintenance needs and requests in a timely manner, ensuring the site remains safe and well-maintained.
- Collect and analyze statistical information for reporting requirements, informing strategic decisions and improvements.
- Awareness of critical incident report procedures and adherence to health and safety policies and procedures.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Knowledge of current social issues related to homelessness, mental illness, and addiction, staying up-to-date on best practices and research.
- Training in or knowledge of non-violent crisis intervention techniques and harm reduction approach, applying evidence-based practices.
- Ability to work independently and show initiative and creativity, taking ownership of tasks and responsibilities.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and collaboration skills, building strong relationships and achieving results.
