Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Oral Health Therapist to deliver safe, high-quality dental care with a patient-centred approach. This role involves providing preventive services, oral health education, and outreach initiatives in rural Victoria.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct accurate diagnosis and treatment planning within the program's scope.
  • Operate under Smile Squad and Flying Doctor Dental Clinic guidelines and care pathways.
  • Refer patients to specialist or private services as needed in consultation with the Clinical Lead Dental.
  • Address client needs, enquiries, and complaints effectively.
  • Identify and manage high-risk patients efficiently.
  • Maintain the highest standard of patient care in accordance with policy and available resources.
  • Manage dental records following standards and guidelines; keep casework and health promotion records updated.
  • Provide health education and promote oral hygiene during consultations.

This role includes one-week travel placements to rural Victoria with the Smile Squad.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Oral Health or equivalent degree, with Extended Scope of Clinical Practice allowing restorative treatment of adults.
  • Registration with AHPRA with no conditions or undertakings; ongoing commitment to professional development.
  • Minimum five years of hands-on clinical experience in Oral Health Therapy.
  • Experience in a range of dental practices and procedures, including public dental services/programs.
  • Clinical competence to provide a comprehensive range of general dental treatments.
  • Experience in planning and implementing health promotion programs.
  • Understanding of Infection Control guidelines and best practices.
  • Radiation Licence.
  • Professional Indemnity insurance; Current CPR and First Aid.
  • Ability to explain complex concepts simply, deliver engaging presentations, and create clear documentation.
  • Collaborative approach working across teams and contributing to organisational goals.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and dental software (e.g., Titanium, Unity).
