We are seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to lead our Early Childhood Education (ECE) team.
About the Role:
This is a hybrid full-time position with combined responsibilities in our 3–5-year-old childcare program and our Out-of-School Care (OSC) program for school-aged children.
As an ECE, you will provide nurturing, play-based care for children aged 3-5 in the morning. In the afternoon, you will transition into the Team Lead role in the OSC program for children in Kindergarten and Grade 1, providing leadership and oversight to staff, children, and programming.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Development: Plan, implement, and assess developmentally appropriate, play-based activities.
- Schedule Management: Maintain a balanced daily schedule with active/quiet, indoor/outdoor, and individual/group experiences.
- Social-Emotional Support: Identify and label emotions to support children's social-emotional development.
Requirements:
- A valid BC ECE certification is required.
- Experience working with children ages 3–11 is essential.
- A valid First Aid with CPR-C certificate is necessary.
- Strong Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a strong family-centered lens.
Working Conditions:
The ability to lift and move chairs, cots, mats, etc. (up to 30lbs) is required. The ability to work positively in a busy and loud environment is also essential. Additionally, the ability to work outside in a variety of weather conditions and stand for long periods of time, run occasionally, crouch and bend frequently is required.
Assets:
- Leadership or supervisory experience in licensed childcare or OSC is highly desirable.
- Experience working in shared or multi-use childcare environments is beneficial.
- Additional training in conflict resolution, team leadership, or child development is valuable.
