Job Description:

You will be working as a Defence Ranger at Beecroft Weapons Range, enabling public access and overseeing the protection of indigenous sites of cultural significance. This role involves supporting environmental and land management, visitor and stakeholder liaison, educational activities, and field-based tasks such as emergency response management.

As a representative of Defence, you will engage with diverse stakeholders including Defence personnel, contractors, interest groups, local communities, and international visitors. Your day will involve a blend of outdoor work, office-based administrative duties, and responding to public enquiries.

Key responsibilities include policing range access, overseeing natural environment and cultural heritage values within the Beecroft Peninsula, and taking charge of public visitors during emergency incidents in accordance with emergency response plans.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Deep understanding of traditional custodians' connection to country
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to handle difficult customers
  • Comfortable working in small teams and independently
  • Reasonable fitness level for outdoor work under varying thermal conditions
  • Customer and administrative experience, including records and finance management
  • Excellent communication skills with diverse stakeholders and conflict resolution abilities
  • Knowledge of species, flora, and fauna of the local area (optional)
