We are seeking a skilled Cost Control Specialist to support the implementation of project-specific cost control and reporting procedures. The successful candidate will be responsible for estimating, analysis, and control activities for projects with significant non-routine requirements.
Key Responsibilities:- Undertake trend detection, recording, monitoring, and reporting to the project management team.
- Forecast cost and schedule impacts on budget resulting from trends and suggest mitigation plans.
- Understand Bechtel's trend process and subcontracts/key requirements for changes in contracts.
- Assist in analysis of specially assigned change-related initiatives or work planning requiring detailed change assessment and response planning efforts.
- Support the overall trend program schedule and initiate trend focus meetings through cooperation with all disciplines to achieve a successful trend program.
- Prepare and analyze comparisons of scope, quantities, and cost data between projects. Perform productivity analysis of Construction operations and verify results.
- Develop and implement project requirements for cost control, including preparing and analyzing cost studies utilizing historical data, statistical analysis, and cost and quantity comparisons.
- Responsible for developing trend evaluations, verifying consistency with previous reports, and issuing reports required by management and project procedures.
- Monitor project development, flag deviations from budget, and prepare and evaluate trends.
- Assist in developing unit job-hour and pricing data for a specific discipline or other specialty.
A bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience are required.
Preferred Skills:- Knowledge of estimating methods, processes, and procedures.
- Knowledge and experience in quantity takeoffs, statistical analysis, and cost and price analysis.
- Skilled in understanding and implementing technical discipline processes, engineering drawings, quantity determinations, and mathematical and financial reports.
- Thorough understanding of cost indices and escalation projection sources.
- Ability to understand and contribute to risk and contingency assessments.
- Skilled in oral and written communications, including presentation skills and ability to address the project management team.
- Intermediate knowledge of Excel, including lookups, pivot tables, and complex graphs.
- Knowledge of Bechtel's internal estimating software, BETK, and ability to conform estimate details into budgets for packages.
