Job Title: Performance Venue Operations Manager


We are embarking on an exciting period of transformation as we prepare to revamp our theatre facilities. The new temporary venue will operate as a 186-seat performance space situated in the Discovery area during the redevelopment of our permanent site, ensuring continuity of cultural activities and community engagement for our city.

About the Role

The Performance Venue Operations Manager plays a pivotal leadership role in charge of the theatre operations. This operational linchpin coordinates closely with various teams to ensure seamless delivery of events and services.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead and manage the venue establishment in coordination, project planning, budget tracking, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
  2. Define operational workflows, service standards, staffing structures, resource plans in preparation for venue launch.
  3. Ensure regulatory and compliance requirements are satisfied prior to go-live.
  4. Oversee daily operations of all theatre functions.
  5. Coordinate and monitor service delivery across multiple business units and liaise with building management, service quality, efficiency, and business performance metrics.
  6. Implement business continuity plans and emergency procedures in alignment with policies.
  7. Manage and develop all revenue and financial operations.
  8. Establish and monitor food, beverage & bar operations.
  9. Oversee and collaborate with programming, business readiness, and legal teams to manage contracting, invoicing, and insurance coverage.
  10. Lead negotiations and relationship management with external hirers, touring producers, and community clients.
  11. Ensure the venue is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness, safety, presentation, and functionality at all times.
  12. Ensure signage, amenities, and wayfinding are always accessible and aligned with brand standards.
  13. Oversee front-of-house operations and ushering services to ensure all standards.
  14. Monitor customer relations and feedback, respond to escalated complaints, and initiate service improvements.
  15. Supervise, coach, and lead an operational team towards achieving desired organisational outcomes.
