Bitumen Tanker Maintenance Technician

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled technician to maintain and repair bitumen tankers. This is a hands-on role that requires working with specialized equipment essential to road construction operations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background and enjoy working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. They will be responsible for conducting routine inspections, diagnosing mechanical faults, and performing preventative maintenance on tank systems.

They will also be responsible for maintaining the integrity of heating systems that keep bitumen at optimal temperature during transport and unloading. Additionally, they will carry out welding and fabrication repairs, monitor and calibrate temperature and pressure controls, and ensure all work is completed in line with relevant safety, environmental, and transport compliance standards.

This role will require working both in workshop settings and occasionally on-site, supporting operational readiness and minimizing downtime.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Mechanical and hydraulic system knowledge
  • Experience with burner systems and pipework
  • Welding and fabrication skills
  • Understanding of hazardous materials handling (especially hot bitumen)
  • Strong safety awareness and PPE compliance
