Assistant Store Manager Job Description

About the Assistant Store Manager Role

The ideal candidate will support the Store Manager in ensuring the efficient operation of the store and service excellence by driving sales and building customer loyalty.

  • Drive Sales: Drive and maximise sales through promotional activities, cross-selling, up-selling initiatives, and superior customer service.
  • Operational Efficiency: Efficiently execute operational activities, including expenses, stock management, shrinkage, general housekeeping, and administration.
  • Visual Merchandising: Ensure in-store visual merchandising meets brand image standards and store appearance is consistent with the brand's identity.
  • Team Management: Motivate and direct staff to achieve targets and performance goals, effectively managing the team in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Work Scheduling: Maintain the work schedule daily, adhering to the Group's labour policy and relevant labour model to ensure each department is fully staffed.
  • Customer Service: Execute customer service initiatives resulting in a great customer experience, driving customer loyalty, and achieving club card participation targets.
  • Administrative Tasks: Attend to administrative responsibilities efficiently, including submitting complete and accurate weekly time and attendance records to HR.

Requirements and Skills for Success

  • Education: Grade 12 (Maths 50% and English 50%)
  • Desirable Qualifications: Degree in Relevant Retail/Business Management
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year's experience in an assistant store management role or successful completion of the Clicks Trainee Store Management Programme
  • Financial Knowledge: Financial management experience, including budgets, profit and loss statements, financial ratios, etc.
