**Staff Specialist Clinical Superintendent in General Surgery Position Overview:**

The Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District invites applications from suitably qualified medical/dental practitioners for a leadership role in General Surgery.

This position will be primarily located at Nepean Hospital within the Division of Surgery & Anaesthetics, and involves teaching, research, quality improvement, and administrative activities within the respective specialty Department and Hospital as required.

Appointees may be eligible for credentialing and privileging across all other facilities in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced clinical leader who can drive innovation and excellence in health service delivery, providing safe, equitable, high-quality, accessible, timely, and efficient services that are responsive to the needs of patients and the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage teams to achieve desired outcomes

Requirements:

  • Current medical practitioner registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) or equivalent specialist recognition
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills, clinical skills, judgement, and expertise
  • Teamwork, time management, and problem-solving skills in a clinical setting
  • Commitment to quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management
  • Ability to work under pressure, work effectively as part of a team, be flexible, organized, and autonomous
