About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mining Engineer to join our team at Yancoal Mount Thorley Warkworth. As a key leader in our Technical Services team, you will be responsible for providing strong leadership and direction to the Medium-Term Planning team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and inspire a team of mining engineers responsible for the Medium-Term Planning horizons;
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of the operation by identifying and evaluating opportunities for change and innovation in Mine Planning and the Medium Term Mine Plan;
  • Support the production of LOM & Budget mine designs as per Yancoal requirements, including schedules, financials and forward work plans;
  • Provide guidance to the Short-Term planning team through designs and stage plans;
  • Effectively engage and challenge the mining team to ensure the mine plan is achieved.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or in a related engineering discipline;
  • Proven leadership experience;
  • Mine planning experience within an open cut coal mine;
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, as well as strong numerical analysis and data validation skills;
  • Sound knowledge of Australian WHS Standards, relevant mining legislation and industry practice;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across all levels of the business;
  • A can-do attitude which has a positive impact on culture;
  • High level of computer literacy, specifically in mine planning systems - Deswik, Spry, Vulcan or similar packages.
