Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our infrastructure team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining secure, scalable, and resilient cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Your primary focus will be on architecting and implementing cloud infrastructure solutions that meet the needs of our clients. This includes designing and deploying secure, scalable, and cost-optimised cloud infrastructure, primarily on GCP, with opportunities to work across multi-cloud environments.

You will champion and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, build robust CI/CD pipelines, and drive automation for deployment, monitoring, and management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect and Implement: Design and deploy secure, scalable, resilient, and cost-optimised cloud infrastructure, primarily on GCP, with opportunities to work across multi-cloud environments.
  • Automate Everything: Champion and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, build robust CI/CD pipelines, and drive automation for deployment, monitoring, and management.
  • Collaborate & Deliver: Work closely with data engineers, analysts, and client technical teams to integrate infrastructure solutions seamlessly into broader data and analytics projects, ensuring production readiness.
  • Modernise & Optimise: Lead or contribute to cloud migration projects, containerisation efforts (Kubernetes/GKE), implement security best practices, and continuously optimise performance and cost-efficiency.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years' professional experience as a Cloud Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer or similar infrastructure-focused role.
  • Proven hands-on experience with cloud platforms in real production environments specifically on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Strong proficiency with Terraform is crucial. Experience with scripting languages (Python, Bash) and CI/CD tools/concepts.
  • Hold a deep understanding of cloud networking principles (VPCs, subnets, firewalls, load balancing), identity and access management (IAM), security best practices, and containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • GCP Professional certification such as GCP Professional Cloud Architect, Professional Network Engineer, Professional Security Engineer, or other relevant GCP Professional certification.
  • Clear communicator with a consultative mindset, able to talk tech with engineers and outcomes/business value with clients.
