Specialty Products Engineer

We are seeking a talented engineer to join our team in shaping the future of mobility and contributing to sustainability.

  • This role involves carrying out engineering and production support activities to deliver high-quality products and meet commercial requirements.

The responsibilities include:

Design and Engineering
  • Maintain specifications, drawings, and other technical documents.
  • Perform calculations, design, verification checks, and other engineering functions to meet applicable standards and specifications.
  • Be competent in reading and understanding engineering drawings in order to establish the design, scope, and fastening requirements.
  • Use AutoCAD for design purposes and co-ordinate the procurement of new tooling and components.
  • Conduct design reviews and create new product drawings liaising with the Design Engineer.
  • Create or authorise turnaround control sheets (production Bill of Materials).
  • Develop daily production schedules for Rockhampton turnaround manufacturing.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects (systems, process, factory equipment, product design etc.)
Customer Support
  • Prepare / oversee the preparation of scope of work for project tenders.
  • Obtain quotes for special components, fastenings, tooling, labor, testing, freight, and/or modifications required for projects in order to develop accurate cost schedules.
  • Review tenders/orders to confirm all aspects of the tender program are accurate and identify any potential commercial risks.
Relationship Management
  • Deliver exceptional external client support and respond to their requests in a timely and productive manner.
  • Become a key interface with the manufacturing facility and Head Office so that the best outcomes are achieved.
  • Address non-conformance reports issued as the client/site interface, and ensure they are resolved quickly with the root cause identified and an appropriate preventative measure in place.
General Administration
  • Ensure records and documents are filed in accordance with the relevant filing system.
  • Provide technical advice and assistance to Business Development team.
  • Identify contract variations and instigate documentation/reporting to the client.
  • Drive the turnaround production systems process to ensure site and head office tasks are closed out.
Personnel & Safety
  • Promote safe working practices throughout the turnaround business.
  • Identify individual/team training needs, specify training objectives and recommend training to meet objectives in a documented training plan.
  • Manage the priorities of the Turnaround Supervisor and make daily contact to ensure a consistent communication link between head office and site.
  • Engage with production workers when on-site and proactively respond to and implement solutions to any problems/ideas.
Quality, OHS & Environment
  • Foster a culture of quality excellence from top-down and bottom-up.
  • Ensure non-conforming products/processes are identified, recorded, investigated, reported; corrective action implemented, and closed out in the system and with stakeholders.
  • Develop systems/procedures for managing non-conforming products.
  • Conduct turnaround quality audits.
  • Cause analysis investigations for internal/client-driven NCRs.
  • Develop inspection/test plan documentation for new tooling.
  • Manage the closure of turnaround jobs.
Financial Control
  • Monitor progress of jobs against budgets and identify any problems early on.
  • Regularly review/update baseline costs used in estimating.
  • Source multiple quotes for special components/fastenings/tooling/labor/testing/freight/modifications to secure best pricing.

We seek candidates with tertiary education in Engineering and proficiency in Microsoft Packages including Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook. CAD capability is advantageous.
