Job Overview

This role is an advisory position within a facility, responsible for leading on the provision of guidance on equality issues.

The job holder will ensure that Equality Impact Assessments are completed appropriately and develop and manage the annual Equality Plan. They will also disseminate equality monitoring data and take actions to eliminate unlawful discrimination.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Ensuring timely completion of Equality Impact Assessments
  2. Developing and implementing the annual Equality Plan
  3. Disseminating equality monitoring data and taking necessary actions
  4. Creating an Equality Action Plan to address areas of non-compliance
  5. Contributing to the establishment's Equality Committee to promote employee engagement in the equality agenda
  6. Conducting regular equality-related audits and reporting findings to the Senior Management Team (SMT)

Additionally, the job holder will be responsible for:

  • Providing advice and recommendations to senior management, managers, and individuals as the subject matter lead advisor
  • Managing staff within their area, including performance development, appraisal, and sickness absence management
  • Staying up-to-date with changes in relevant laws and ensuring compliance
  • Developing and maintaining local policies and procedures
  • Liaising with external bodies when required

Flexibility is expected, with acceptance of reasonable alterations and additional tasks. Significant adjustments may require re-evaluation under the Job Evaluation Scheme and discussion with the job holder.
