The Stamford Plaza Sydney Airport is a 5-star hotel with 315 accommodation rooms, located at the entrance to the Sydney domestic airport. We have 11 elegant function rooms ranging from our grand ballroom to meeting rooms and corporate-style boardrooms. On site, we have La Boca, our vibrant Argentinean Grill, AV8 Bar, a casual diner, and 24-hour room service.

The Role

We are seeking a skilled Assistant Chief Engineer/Maintenance Manager to join our Engineering Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the hotel in accordance with current legislation and requests from the Operations Team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend to ad-hoc requests from Housekeeping and Front Office Department and hotel guests directly
  • Good knowledge of engineering and maintenance systems for the hotel
  • Assist in managing contractors
  • Report all hazards in guest and employee areas
  • Assist in planning, organizing, and controlling all matters related to engineering-related matters
  • Has full understanding of and is responsible for the following systems:
    • Hotel and cold water, sewage, and traps
    • Air-conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration
    • Lighting
    • Heating
    • Sound and visual
    • Pool filtration and quality
    • Electrical and LPG
    • Kitchens

Requirements

  • Proven experience in maintenance management, preferably with electrical qualifications and background
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively manage a team and collaborate cross-functionally
  • Knowledge of maintenance principles, techniques, and tools, including predictive and preventive maintenance strategies
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards for equipment safety and maintenance
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Previous experience in a hotel/accommodation environment
