About the Role

The Public Transport Authority (PTA) is seeking a skilled Project Engineer - Rollingstock to join its dynamic PTA Project Delivery Division. As a key member of the project team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the successful delivery of the High Capacity Signalling (HCS) and Radio Systems Replacement (RSR) projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to the project team, ensuring rolling stock engineering solutions are designed, built, and maintained safely, cost-effectively, and in line with quality objectives.
  • Assist with the planning and design of rolling stock systems, perform inspections, and prepare detailed reports on project progress.
  • Conduct research and prepare project-specific reports, contributing to the smooth execution and management of the projects.
  • Contribute to the preparation of technical specifications and ensure asset management data is updated as necessary.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery, providing feedback and recommendations to the project teams.

About You

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • A degree in Engineering meeting the requirements for professional membership of Engineers Australia, with proven experience in the planning, design, and construction of infrastructure development projects.
  • Experience in the design, construction, and maintenance of engineering systems within an operational railway environment, with strong knowledge of engineering practices and the ability to manage multiple tasks in high-pressure situations.
  • Demonstrated experience in contract development and management, with the ability to work effectively with contractors in a public transport infrastructure project setting.
  • Well-developed communication skills, both written and verbal, along with strong conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, including the use of relevant computer packages and technology.
