Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to work as a Lactation Consultant with our organization, contributing to the health and well-being of women and their families in North West Queensland.

  • We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse or Midwife with a passion for lactation consulting to join our team.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Relevant tertiary degree qualification
  • Registration/licences as a Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Registered Midwife (RM)
  • Current International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification

As a Lactation Consultant, you will play a key role in providing specialist lactation support services to women and their families across the health continuum. You will work collaboratively with healthcare professionals and community members to promote breastfeeding and address any issues that may arise.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups and individuals. You should also have:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • A strong understanding of lactation and infant feeding practices
  • Ability to travel to various facilities or units within the North West Hospital and Health Service
