About the Role
The Aboriginal Youth Coordinator is responsible for delivering a safe and effective service to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth aged 12-24 years. This includes identifying needs within the community and working with stakeholders to address these needs, ensuring young people have the information, knowledge and skills to make informed choices and reduce risk factors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Youth
- Coordinate and manage initiatives, including Intensive Specialist Cultural Support, Outreach Support, Targeted youth support programs, Training and employment pathways community partnerships and networks
- Oversee and work within the Burbangana framework to provide information and support to at-risk Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and their families
- Deliver outreach interventions to engage and support vulnerable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and community members
- Work closely with other service providers to coordinate and deliver activities and community events
- Maintain high-quality direct care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and community members accessing services
Requirements
- At least 5 years' experience developing and implementing community-based initiatives targeting at-risk young people and families, lived experience highly regarded
- Certificate 4 in Youth Work or equivalent qualification
- Leadership experience with proven record of developing staff capacities through coaching and mentoring
- Experience developing and delivering targeted programs to young people and managing complex needs
- Experience building partnerships and networking skills
- Desired experience in mental health, AOD or housing
