Job Title: Transition to Mental Health Nursing

About the Role

The role involves supporting Registered Nurses who wish to transition into mental health settings. This will be achieved through a 11-month program that includes two six-month rotations within the Mental Health, Drugs and Alcohol Service in the Geelong and Barwon South West region.

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive support to consumers, focusing on their physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs. They will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, liaising with various healthcare providers and providing information and education on mental health maintenance and restoration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete two six-month rotations across multiple services within the Mental Health, Drugs & Alcohol Service in the Geelong and Barwon South West region.
  • Support consumers during life crises and transition periods.
  • Liaise discretely and efficiently with a range of healthcare providers.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have a strong passion for working with consumers to meet their recovery goals. You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to work effectively in a team environment.

You will also have a basic understanding of mental health nursing principles and practices, and be willing to complete postgraduate studies in mental health nursing following the program.
