About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Category Specialist to join our team at Boeing Defence Australia. As a key member of our Supply Chain Management capability, you will play a critical role in supporting our continued growth and success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive category management strategy across the entire procurement lifecycle.
  • Provide guidance, support, and coaching to category specialists and cross-functional teams to ensure successful execution of category strategies.
  • Ensure adherence to supply chain governance policies and procedures in relation to category and supplier management.
  • Support supplier identification, selection, evaluation, and onboarding processes aligned to allocated categories.
  • Ensure suppliers meet the organisation's quality and ethical standards.
  • Develop and maintain accurate category management resource demand forecasts for allocated categories.
  • Identify potential risks and vulnerabilities within allocated categories and establish risk mitigation strategies.
  • Utilize data analytics tools to track category and supplier management metrics and prepare regular reports for management.
  • Conduct market research and analyse trends to identify opportunities and make informed decisions.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, new product developments, and emerging technologies relevant to the categories.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate and maintain favorable terms, pricing, and contracts.
  • Develop and manage strong relationships with key stakeholders to understand business requirements and support the development of enterprise strategies.
  • Negotiate agreements, including reviewing and drafting contractual terms and conditions.
  • Engage with large multi-national and local SME suppliers ensuring compliance to regulatory, trade control, and cyber security requirements.
  • Participate in the development of process improvement initiatives and value for money opportunities.
  • Conduct market engagement activities to identify and select qualified suppliers aligned to allocated categories.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years demonstrated experience in category management, with Defence industry experience desirable.
  • Tertiary Education in Commerce, Law, or Business or relevant experience.
  • High level competency in written and oral communication and standard business tools and systems.
  • An enthusiasm for working with suppliers and identifying new opportunities and relationships.
  • The ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • The ability to work autonomously to see projects and opportunities through to completion.
