Women and Children's Health Network has an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Unit Manager to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert clinical knowledge to guide and lead clinical services and management activities, aiming to improve and optimize patient care.
  • Ensure efficient and timely admissions and discharges of patients to assist with meeting National Elective Surgery Target (NEST).
  • Utilize available information systems to inform decision making, implement and co-ordinate processes for quality improvement, monitor and analyse incidents and accidents, ensure quality and safety is not compromised, evaluate outcomes and convey information to staff.
  • Ensure all patients have an estimated discharge date (EDD), identifying issues and putting strategies in place if EDDs are not met.
  • Ensure services are culturally sensitive for patients and their families.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
  • Registered Nurse with at least 3 years post registration experience.
  • Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated competence in surgical nursing practice in accordance with the relevant standards.
  • Experience in the supervision of students, enrolled nurses, and less experienced registered nurses and or midwives.
