About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Executive Director of Governance and Legal to lead our governance and legal functions and provide expert legal counsel to the Executive Leadership Team, TAFE NSW Board, and Minister.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing enterprise governance, audit, risk activities, and policy frameworks, ensuring compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements, and protecting TAFE NSW's reputation through effective leadership in legal services.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing effective strategies, frameworks, policies, systems, and processes regarding governance and legal functions to achieve TAFE NSW's organisational objectives.
  • Providing high-level legal advice on complex matters, leveraging extensive experience in governance and legal service delivery, and expert knowledge of Government law and legislative processes.
  • Leading a multi-disciplined team, inspiring and fostering collaboration, and possessing outstanding stakeholder management skills.
  • Engaging with critical stakeholders, such as government and regulatory bodies, and demonstrating strong executive leadership.

About You

We are looking for a legal practitioner in NSW with an unrestricted practising certificate and appropriate tertiary legal qualifications. The ideal candidate will have a sound conceptual and critical thinking ability, excellent problem-solving skills, and a proven ability to engage with critical stakeholders.
